Touchscreen Issues

2015-02-01, 13:33 PM

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else has seen an issue with the touch responsiveness on the Thinkpad 10. I first noticed it while re-organizing tiles on the Windows home screen. As I would drag a tile across the screen, it would drop unexpectedly, without me lifting my finger. This issue doesn't seem to happen when using the digitizer pen, just the capacitive functionality. Some spots on the screen seem to be more prone to it than others, but the behavior is too inconsistent for me to pin down specific areas.

Another little test that I did used Autodesk Sketchbook. I drew horizontal lines across the screen followed by vertical lines to create a grid. I did this several times, and on maybe 10-20% of the lines, it stopped recognizing then picked back up as I drew across the screen.

I've updated everything to the latest versions/bios/etc. I tried disabling a few services here and there, but nothing seems to help. I've opened a warranty claim to send the tablet back once the box arrives. In the meantime I'll try a fresh install of Windows, but my gut tells me this is a hardware problem. Just currios to see if anyone else has experienced this issue before. Thanks!

Update --- A fresh Windows install did not help, still have same issue.

I ended up finding some "Recommended" Windows updates to blame. Not exactly sure which ones, but after an OS reset and only installing the ones labeled "Important" the issue did not come back. I haven't been able to re-create the issue so I'm going to call it good at this point.
