X201 change current DDR3 memory - rebuilding X201

2015-02-24, 19:35 PM

Hello dear users,

I would like to change my current DDR3 memory and buy new with bigger capacity.

Currently I have installed 2x2 GB DDR3-1333 (667 Mhz) 1.5 V.

I find some used memory in good price -  HYNIX 8 GB 2Rx4 PC3-12800S-11-11-F3 DDR-3. Are these memory will be compatible with X201 ?

PS. I am using Win7 64bit.

Hi SebX201,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking for the memory up-gradation for your ThinkPad X201.

As your system is 1st gen your system won’t supports PC3-12800S, my suggestion is to go for 2x4Gb DDR3-1333 10600 only, and if you are looking for FRU # 55Y3717.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hello,

Yes, exectly I would like upgrade current configuration in my X201. Thanks a lot, I am looking for 2x4 DDR3 1333 1060 1.5 V.
I would like to ask, what if I find for buying memory 1x 8GB DDR3 1333 1060. What is a biggest capacity memory which can be fully operated in one slot? Four or eight GB?

No 8GB support in this generation. 2x 4GB is the max you can install...
