t420 with thinkpad mini dock series 3 on linux

2015-03-29, 23:32 PM

Hi Guys.

I have been trying to get Dual external screens to work with my laptop and dock (thinkpad mini dock series 3), i have the screens both plugged into the dock with DVI and VGA, but it appears only the VGA screen works (along with the main laptop screen).

The laptop in the BIOs has Nvidia Optimus selected as preferred with Optimus auto detect enabled.

All i want to do is atleast run both of the screens even with the laptop screen closed.

The laptop has a Quadro 4200m along with Intel HD graphics

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation release 6.5 (Santiago)"

My issue is very similar. I too am unable to make the DVI ports work on my MiniDock Series 3. VGA port works fine.

My T430 is running Ubuntu 15.04. I've loaded the latest Intel and nVidia drivers. No firmware updates appear to be available for the MiniDock Series 3 (or I would try them as well).

I'd be very interested in learning whether anyone has found a solution.
