Y70 Touch Screen Malfunction

2015-04-15, 3:11 AM

I recently purchased a Lenovo Y70 with Windows 8.1 and until now it has worked perfectly. The problem is that the touch screen (which I don't actually use) becomes stuck as if I am constantly pressing it in the bottom right hand corner (over the date/time). I am still able to use the touchpad to control the cursor though the touch screen constantly hits in the corner and disrupts what I'm doing.
I can disable or uninstall the touch screen which fixes the problem but upon restarting the machine, the problem eventually comes back.
I have tried to restore the computer to an earlier point but the fix didn't last long.

While I don't mind keeping the touch screen disabled as I don't use it, I still find the problem annoying.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi Seankill07,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you facing issue with touch screen in your Lenovo Y70 laptop.

Try to uninstall the display driver and restart the machine. Then reinstall the driver and check for the issue. Also try to boot the system into safe mode and check for the issue.

Click here for the display driver.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

Best regards,

Hi Ashwin,

Thanks for the speedy reply. Unfortunately, nothing seems to work. It has now graduated to spots appearing across the screen as if I am touching the screen randomly which causes the cursor to flicker and move unsteadily as I use the touchpad. Even if I uninstall the drivers and restart the computer, the 'touch screen spots' begin to appear as soon as it begins to restart and the drivers have been re-installed as soon as the computer has booted back to the desktop.

The only thing I'm able to do is disable to touch screen in 'Device Manager' which solves the problem but obviously means I can't use the touch screen. As I said earlier, I don't use it anyway so it doesn't bother me too much but I'm worried that this is indicitive of a further issue.

Thanks for your help
