My G770 SD Card Slot has suddently stopped working.  Will not recognize that a card has been inserted.  Worked just fine for the past 3+ years.  Anyone got any ideas on a fix for this/

Hi Insman1132,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Card reader in your Lenovo G770 laptop.

Try to uninstall and  reinstall the driver and check for the issue.

Click here for the driver for windows 7.

Click here for the driver for windows 8.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

Best regards,

Ashwin. S

Re: G770 Card Slot stopped working

My Lenovo g770 card slot stopped recognizing when a card is inserted.  I tried reinstalling the Realtek driver that was recommended (twice) and both times a screen informed me it was successfully installed and ready for use. But I still cannot get the memory cards to be recognized.  I have tried 3 different cards:  a Panasonic (camera) 2GB SD card and 2 SanDisk SDHC cards.  They can easily be read by my other laptops (two Toshibas). Any suggestions

Did you uninstall the old driver first?  The reinstall the new one?

Re: G770 Card Slot stopped working

2015-06-24, 22:55 PM

I went into "programs" and uninstalled the Realtek USB 2.0 card reader driver and got a message that the uninstall was successful (and I no longer saw it in my list of programs).  Then, I went to the Lenovo driver web site to install the Realtek USB 2.0 card reader driver again (this is the same reference point as was in the comment trail above).  While installing this, I got a query stating that the software was already on my computer and did I want to overwrite it ("yes" "yes to all" "no" "no to all" as choices, and I said "yes to all").  After installation and clicking "finish" I had to restart my laptop to get the install to complete.  I then noticed a balloon indicating that the driver install was successful and the Realtek USB 2.0 card reader was ready to use.  I inserted an 8 GB SDHC card into the card slot and nothing came up in my "Organize" list when I opened windows explorer--so nothing to click on in order to be able look at the pictures on the catrd.

NOTE:  under my "drivers" directory under my Local Disk "C" drive, I found a subdirectory called "Realtek USB 2.0 card reader driver" but all dates were prior to today (i.e., back in 2010 or on 11/7//14 when I installed the card reader after I had to swap out a bad internal drive and reload all my relevant drivers with the help of my IT professional--BTW:  the card reader worked fine after that 2014 install and up to just a month ago).

But, when I go into "Control Panel" and "Programs" and get the list of programs, the Realtek USB 2.0 card reader driver says it was installed 6/24/15 (today).

So, in short, I've done everything that I thought I was supposed to do, but I still can't see the card on my laptop in order to transfer photos.  And, the card is readable on other computers.  Any suggestions?
