770x mini battery

2008-02-05, 22:59 PM
Hey, just keeping the forum moving and since I'm new I have some instant questions!

Anyway, I just very recently sold my old and outdated 770X. ( bad move on my part) and it worked perfectly fine until the minute he stepped inside his door and turned it on it got three error messages. The names of those particular error messagas have escaped my mind at the moment but one of them i recall was for the bios battery. (?????) I googled it and got a variety of answers. Such as it being some small hearing-aid size battery that runs a couple of small components on the inside. If this is true or not I'm not quite sure, but indefinently somebody here will know a lot more than I curently do. This tiny interior component
Looks and seems rather timely and a nuisance to replace.I would like to a good sport and somehow fix it myself being more computer literate than he is.

First of all this guy knows absolutely nothing about computers and is rather lazy and also unemployed.. So therefore I do not think a laptop would be the best starting computer for him.I have an old Creative desktop to offer him, so hopefully he will
"take the bate" and give my beloved 770X.

One last thing before I sign off here, If anyone has any cheap thinkpads they are willing to sell, I would keeep them in mind.

The BIOS battery is a standard CR2032 or similar standard "button" battery which you can get from probably any photo-shop or harware store. You can find it under the cover on the bottom of the 770 where the memory is. You can look in the Hardware Maintainance Manual if you are unsure. (page 136 of the pdf file)
