x220t - use pen and fingertouch at the same time?

2011-09-16, 19:41 PM

I just purchased a fully loaded x220 tablet and I have to say I'm very happy with the performance. It's fast.

However the reason I bought it in the first place was to use Zbrush on a tablet PC without having to use a keyboard. My hope was to use onscreen hotkeys (using autoitv3 or modlock) while I used the pen to sculpt.

Yet after purchase I read in the manual that while the screen recognizes multitouch it does NOT recognize input from the pen and another capacitive source (like a fingertip) at the same time.

And I verified that this is indeed the behavior of the tablet.

I understand why - you don't want your hand to trigger responses while it's resting on the screen and you're using the pen. But I use a glove while I'm sculpting so it isn't an issue for me.

What I'd like to know is whether or not there is any way at all to get around this behavior. Because I use a lot of art programs with key modifiers (photoshop, zbrush, maya, etc.) the PC in tablet form is useless to me unless I can have onscreen hotkeys which I can tap or hold while I'm using the pen.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ted
