Cannot configure Kensington Bluetooth Mouse for left-handed operation

2012-06-16, 19:55 PM

I have a Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse. The system recognizes it fine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to configure it for left-handed operation.

The Mouse Properties Control Panel Applet shows "No Microsoft Mouse detected".

The mouse works fine in every respect, except I can't switch the buttons.

I've considered removing the Intellipoint driver and just using the default Windows 7 Control Panel Applet.

I've used this mouse lefty on a bunch of other systems, both Mac and PC (Sony, Dell, HP).

Anyone found a solution for this?

Regards,

Tom

Hello,

Isn't IntelliPoint the series of device drivers used for Microsoft's own mouses?  Have you tried using Kensington's own drivers instead of Microsoft's?  If so, did that make any difference?

Hi!

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try installing the Kensington driver. That had no effect.

I then removed the Intellipoint software. Once I did that, the option to switch mouse buttons was available.

I thought the Intellipoint software was bundled with the system software on my W520, so I was reluctant to remove it, in fear of what other functionality I will be giving up. But not being able to mouse lefty was even worse.

So, answering my own question: It appears the solution was indeed to remove the Intellipoint Software and use default Windows 7 drivers.

Regards,

Tom
