G6 Play Android 9 (Pie) Safe or not?

2019-12-09, 21:02 PM

Hello there Lenovo comunity!

I had my G6 play for about 7 months now in which I keept on ignoring the latest update as I heard that it breaks the phone by making it unusable due to masive lag and that it also keeps Dolby Audio always on and there is no way to disable or enable it like you can do it in Android 8.0 which I am currently running.

I did found I workaround to disable the update pop-up, but I want to know if the update is safe to do so as I might accidentally press update after doing a restart.

P.S My G6 Play is the XT1922-2

Take the updates from your carrier when they are offered, provided that you have ten to twenty minutes when you won't need your phone to place or answer phone calls.. Many users complain loudly that Moto's updates don't show up often enough, and we can tell their phones are still working because that's how they post their comments.

See the other excelent reply and after any Major update I Always do a Factory Reset from Recovery mode and manually set my phone up e.g don't let it auto-re-install apps etc but I have all my Important stuff either backed up to and with Google Photos and or to my Laptop.

I consider a Factory reset as if it were a 10,000 mile service for my Android phones. It's keeps them all slick and problem free :)

That is something that I know but I don't have enough time to back up everything and reinstall all the apps I have as I use my phone in combination with my laptop to work.

What I am asking here is for a review of Android 9, from a G6 Play user that used the mentioned features and that notices any performance increases or decreases
