ACPI BIOS Error - Ideapad C340-14API :: Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.GPP2.BCM5]

2019-10-14, 13:25 PM

Hi! I have this error in kernel logs :

[root@c340sev ~]# journalctl -b0 | grep -i ERROR
Oct 14 16:42:55 localhost.localdomain kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.GPP2.BCM5], AE_NOT_FOUND (20190509/dswload2-159)
Oct 14 16:42:55 localhost.localdomain kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20190509/psobject-220)

I post here in other discussion because IMO it is distro-agnostic (but to be specific this is fedora 30 kernel 5.2.18-200.fc30.x86_64)

the decompilation and recompilation with iasl is not reliable as there are already a number of unresolved external methods:

    External (_PR_.C000._PPC, MethodObj) // 0 Arguments
    External (_PR_.C000.PPCV, IntObj)
    External (_SB_.ALIB, MethodObj) // 2 Arguments
    External (_SB_.APTS, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
    External (_SB_.AWAK, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
    External (_SB_.PCI0.GP17.VGA_.AFN7, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
External (_SB_.TPM2.PTS_, MethodObj) // Warning: Unknown method, guessing 1 arguments
    External (AFN4, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
    External (AFN7, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
External (MPTS, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments
External (MWAK, MethodObj) // 1 Arguments

Could this be properly solved by the vendor?

Thank you!

Later edit : of course i have these in kernel line :

acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_os_name="Windows 2015"
