X1 carbon won't power from USB3 Ultra Dock under Linux

2019-07-11, 3:09 AM

My X1 Carbon (3rd gen) won't power from USB3 Ultra Dock under Linux (Kubuntu 18).

Dock works fine for external monitor, audio interface, external USB drives, mouse, etc. All good, just no power. So I have to have a power supply for the dock and another for the Thinkpad on my desk.

It looks like it's supposed to work, I'd love to be able to just plug my laptop into the dock and have it work the waythe old physical ones did.

Any ideas? Anyone had any success with this under Linux? Drivers?
