There's a problem with 64bit Linux distributions and the LenovoEMC Storage Manager for Linux wich uses, I think, a 32bit java environnement.

I couldn't even install the .bin setup file until I browsed around and found that solution:

sudo apt-get install libstdc++5
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Then I could happily install it with sudo ./setup-1.4.4.14439.bin (or you won't have access to default directory /usr/bin/LenovoEMC Storage Manager).

But now I'm completely stuck as another problem arises when trying to start LenovoEMCStorageManager as shown above:

./LenovoEMCStorageManager-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libORBit-2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Please, Lenovo, can you make both 32bit and 64bit versions of LenovoEMC Storage Manager for Linux? I think it hasn't to be that hard.

I'm really dissapointed of Lenovo software support. Add to it the problem of Torrent corruption files which remains unsolved since years and you'll get a very angry customer who wouldn't say anything fine about it anywhere.

Hi pbfx415,

Storage Manager for Linux should be compatible with 64-bit systems. You may need to update to the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and also make sure that you have write access to the folder that you are downloading the file to or you could log in as root user.

Hello Andrew,

is it working  also with openjdk ? Or the Oracle version ?

In a terminal when I ask for :

java  -version
java version "1.7.0_51"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.4) (7u51-2.4.4-0ubuntu0.13.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

I guess I 've already these 2 versions ? Sorry, I'm a bit ignorant abour Java...

I ran into this same issue, running 64 bit linux and trying to run this awful software. After trying a lot of things, including downloading 32 bit versions of the shared libraries that this awful software is looking for, and still running into ELF64 architecture issues, I finally just ran and installed the windows version of it via wine (by running wine64), and everything else worked just fine after that, and you will find the software installed in the normal way that wine installs windows which is generally: ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Lenovo etc etc etc

Lenovo: if you're going to tout that you support linux, you should support linux.

Show error messages and exact steps. "Still not working" helps no one.
