Re: Backflip: Motorola Phone Tools...seriously

Seriously?  $49.99 for software to link the phone and computer?  I just bought a Backflip and I'm thinking about flipping it back to the store.  Can't delete a motoblur account, functionality limited, documentation slim to none.  I'm getting more disappointed by the day.

You don't have to buy the software if you think its expensive. The software just makes life easier, without it you can still manually copy and backup your phone data in your computer via USB. Know the phone specifications, its functions and problems(there are plenty of forums and reviews for you to look at) even before making a purchase.
There is already a preinstalled app called Help Center for you to view the phone document.

Plus... you don't want Motorola Phone Tools as this does not support the Backflip. You want to download the free Motorola Media Link (link found at the bottom of this forum page).

If you would like some help, then post some questions. You can link the phone to a PC without any software at all - plug the phone in, and the SD card looks like a removable drive to Windows or Mac (probably Linux too) ; but the phone has to be in Disk mode. What is missing in functionality or documentation?

Full User manual (pdf file)

Backflip Links - a bunch of resources for the Backflip.

You can delete a Motoblur account by contacting AT&T and having them request it, The reason you have to go through AT&T (as explained to me) is so that they can verify your identity. Motorola doesn't have enough info to do this.

Searching this forum and posting questions if you don't find an existing thread to join will probably get any questions answered.

As stated you don't need any additional software to access your phone with your computer. The SD card is mounted as a removable drive when you connect your phone with the supplied USB cable (or just about any micro usb cable). You can get added functionality using Motorola Media Link.
