Dell XPS 13 issues with T3 Gen 2 Docking Station

Hi All,

I have a head scratcher, wondering if anyone ran into this issue and has a fix?

I have a Dell XPS 13 9360 attached to a Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 docking station. When the laptop is plugged into the back Thunderbolt connection the laptop charges, but the dual HDMI monitors are not detected and sit in standby mode.  The Thunderbolt detection app doesn't recognize the docking station connection and the docking station sits in standby mode with its orange light.

When the laptop is connected to the front Thunderbolt connection on the docking station everything works well and the peripherals are recognized, but I don't receive a charge. The docking station sits in standby mode with its orange light.

My wife has a Thinkpad laptop and there's no issue when connected, peripherals work well and the docking station runs with a white light at the power button.

I've updated all available drivers and firmware for my Dell and the Lenovo docking station.

Any ideas on what's going on and if I need any additional drivers or firmware to get this working properly?

Thanks.

Re:Dell XPS 13 issues with T3 Gen 2 Docking Station

Hi TXBrooklyn,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would be initially thinking of Firmware and driver update as provided in the overview like here.

Since the Lenovo machine do work as expected then perhaps compatibility maybe the reason if not a compatible cable for the XPS.

You may look into the mentioned link and I do hope this helps.

Regards
