Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

I seem to have issues when I click on folders and even the settings on my toolbar.  Usually takes a few seconds to respond.  Bearing in mind I have had other lesser spec laptops which are more responsive I wonder why my i9 32 gig ram computer seems so unresponsive at times.

I've had my computer for less than a week and I find it sluggish.  Have reattached mouse and keyboard to usb 3.0 locations but this isn't an issue with other computers, don't see why its an issue with this machine.

Have turned off most of the privacy settings, I suppose too much of those options may be contributing.  Are there other ways to optimize my experience?  Even keyboarding this text seems slow, the text appears maybe a second after I type.

Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

Ok, so I did a bit of googling. It was weird that I couldn't change the name of a folder and keys like backspace and enter would either back out of my explorer or enter a folder rather than rename it.

I think its resolved though. Saw some solution which was to turn off the background slides and get a fixed picture. Suddenly everything is resolved and no issues. Weird, maybe you guys need to get windows 10 support to fix this. I'm going to turn back on some of those automated settings. Thanks for your responses.

Solution: turn off the background slides and use a fixed picture.

T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

Did you get the Desktop version with the SSD?

Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

Hi, yeah, this one has an SSD. I think turning off some of the privacy / tracking functions help but sometimes even renaming a folder is a pain. I'd type in what I want and then the folder resumes its original name.

If it's sluggish with the SSD, look at your CPU usage and clock in the task manager. Make sure you're not running any kind of battery saving settings that could be taking away from your performance.

Otherwise, may be consider isolating the issue. Is it only the desktop? How about browsing the web? Are games giving low fps?

Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

I think the most frustrating thing is when I try to rename a folder, it just reverts back to its original name and I have to make multiple attempts. Also sometimes I try to highlight multiple folders or files and it freezes momentarily for around 2 seconds. I got an i9 and 32 gigs of ram so I don't expect this issue. Web browsing is fine but sometimes I click on a tab and again I have to wait 2 seconds for it to respond. Strange since my specs are pretty high compared to my other 3 computers including my older desktop. Ran the task manager, don't think its draining too much on the resources.

Perhaps I can turn off a few more of the default windows 10 settings? Any recommendations?

Just disabled pretty much most of the strange settings, helps.  Still having freezes, when I'm trying to highlight multiple files.  Surprising how Windows 10 seems to have disabled this machine.  I got a laptop with mediocre specs that offers smoother handling of files and folders.  Ran GTA V with minimal issues just there so I guess that is a good sign.

Maybe if there are other hidden data collection options to disable, that might make my life easier.

Re: T530 Desktop - slow response/performance

It's doubtful that the issue will be resolved by going through Windows settings. Post the clockspeed that your CPU is running at when you're doing regular stuff (not gaming).

Your description either shows a CPU issue, a Windows issue (meaning you'd have to reinstall Windows to fix), or an issue with your SSD.

You should test your SSD with one or more of the software on here:

If everything seems fine, reinstall Windows as a last resort. Or, if you're still under warranty, you can send it to Lenovo for repairs.
