Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

Hi

I have an issue with audio level when using video conf applications like Meet, Zoom or Teams.
This is what happen:

Let suppose that the audio level on my lenovo P11 is in the range 0 ... 100
With the Meet or Zoom application, when I try to adjust the audio level the slider move up and down from 0..to 100 but the actual audio level goes between 50 and 100
So I am not able select a audio level lower than the medium . Even with slider 0 I still have an audio level too loud

This not happen with other application like Youtube , Netflix or Spotify

I have the latest Android 11 release

Hello @ postak !

Welcome to the Community Forums!

When did the issue started to happen? Did you make any changes to it as well before the issue started to occur?

Try connecting a headset/headphone into your Tab P11 Pro to see if it will allow you to adjust the volume when in a conference using Zoom, Meet or Teams.

Aside from that, make sure that the Tab P11 Pro is not on mute, silent or DND (Do Not Disturb) mode when adjusting the volume.

You may also uninstall/reinstall the app(s) to test as well.

Please share your Tab P11 Pro's machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK or 20UD000BUS) from the sticker usually under the case. This would help us detail more about your machine variant while keeping the confidentiality of your serial number.

Thanks,

I have tried using bluetooth device and I got the same behaviour. Even worse, the volume do not change at all. I need to rely on the bluetooth device

Aside from that, make sure that the Tab P11 Pro is not on mute, silent or DND (Do Not Disturb) mode when adjusting the volume.

I tried with all combinations. same behaviour

I tried, nothing change

Re:Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

Thanks for providing your device's details @ postak !

Aside from the steps that we've provided, see if it's only happening when you're joining a certain group or session using Teams or Zoom.

You may try creating your own session/meeting using any of those apps to observe if the audio will also be the same.

Also, make sure that all apps' permissions are set to enabled or allowed by going to Settings > Apps in order to make changes or customizations on your device when using any of those apps.

Another is to try connecting the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro into a different Wi-Fi network to test.

Should you get the same result, we recommend reaching out the Teams or Zoom app support for further recommendations towards this concern since the issue only occurs when using any of those apps and the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro's overall audio functionality is still working fine.

Re:Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

I have an update.

Trying the "Volume Control" from Netroken Inc, I found out that volume for Calls (the one used by Meet/Zoom/Team etc) cannot go below 14%.

If you try to put a lower value it is immediately reset to 14% (that correspond to   "empty" in the slider volume)

you can increase the volume up to 100%. But not below 14%. If you manually put a value lower that 14%, let's say 7% it is immediately reset to 14%

Can you check on this?

thanks

Luca

Re:Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

Thanks for the update @postak !

Checking on picture that you've attached, try to disable or turn off the Silent mode feature on your Tab P11 Pro and check the audio again.

However, it seems that the Volume Control app that you've downloaded for the device may be limiting the device itself to lower the volume level for calls less than 14%.

With this, we recommend checking it with the app support for further recommendations especially to have the mentioned apps' compatibility be checked with it also as they're the ones that can provide such details.

Thanks,

is not the app. is something at OS level that impose 14%

if you put a value below 14 is reset to 14. And this is for all Voice app. Not Media app like YouTube or Spotify but only voice app from different vendors

including Google Meet, Google Voice, Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc

it's not an app specific problem. Same behaviour with Google Meet, Google Voice, Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc. All "Voice" applications. Probably related to two way audio (IN and OUT) different from  Media app like YouTube or Spotify that are on OUT

Re:Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

Any update on this?

After talking with Android support I can confirm that this is a Lenovo speaker tuning issue that only Lenovo can solve.

As a counter-proof, I have tried a cable headphones (no bluetooth). With headphones is much much better.

With level set to 0 I hear a very low sound and with 100% I hear a high level sound. Exactly what I expect with speakers!

That confirms it is a speaker tuning issue.

So please let me know your side how if you are going to fix this issue and when

Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly 2

Hi

I have an issue with audio level when using video conf applications like Meet, Zoom or Teams.
This is what happen:

Let suppose that the audio level on my lenovo P11pro is in the range 0 ... 100
With the Meet or Zoom application, when I try to adjust the audio level the slider move up and down from 0..to 100 but the actual audio level goes between 50 and 100
So I am not able select a audio level lower than the medium . Even with slider 0 I still have an audio level too loud

This not happen with other application like Youtube , Netflix or Spotify and with any application that use Speaker Audio

It happen only for application that use Voice Audio

After talking with Android support I can confirm that this is a Lenovo speaker tuning issue that only Lenovo can solve. Lenovo need to tune the Voice Audio tune factor that Android leaves to the OEM

As a counter-proof, I have tried a cable headphones (no bluetooth). With headphones is much much better. With level set to 0 I hear a very low sound (at an acceptable level) and with 100% I hear a high level sound. Exactly what I expect with speakers!

That confirms it is a speaker tuning issue.

Re:Lenovo P11 pro audio cannot be adjusted properly

Hello,

Apologies for the late response.

Sorry to read that you're still unable to adjust the audio properly.

I think along with the steps you've already taken, connecting a wired headphone was a good idea. I would also like to suggest to check still for any available updates on your tablet and download it. Once updated, observe its performance again.

If it's already updated or there's no available update, it might be a good idea to perform a factory reset instead in Recovery mode with the steps below:

  1. Ensure the device is turned off and not connected to any charger.
  2. Press and hold the correct keys to start the device into recovery mode. This varies from device to device. Normally there are three key combinations to enter recovery mode for Lenovo android tablets:
    • Volume Up + Power
    • Volume Down + Power
    • Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
  3. Navigate to Wipe data/factory reset or Reset factory.
  4. Press Enter. Factory reset will start automatically. Wait until finished.

Please let us know if the steps above will work.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo
