Laptop G710 Hardware Upgrade

I have a laptop model of Lenovo G710 with

CPU: i7 4702m

Ram: ddr 3 8GB with 1600Hz

GPU: GT820m
CD desk

But I want to upgrade those hardware with below list, any of that is impossible, and if not, why?

CPU I believe cannot upgrade over intel 4000 series right?

RAM: ddr 3 16GB with 1800Hz

GPU: GTX750m (change the core only) power supply possible? Fully function? If not, how about GT840m or GT830m

CD desk, Change to a new SSD, how is the size, Sata 2/3 connection? Or able to use M.2 connection.

I’ll be appreciated for your help.

Thanks,

Fak

Re:Laptop G710 Hardware Upgrade

Hi FakComPaty,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Probable CPU upgrade of i7 4702m is Intel i7-4712MQ as I checked compatible with the parts lookup with is not much of a gain.

GPU chip is soldered so upgrades is not a good option too.

The RAM max is 16GB so 2 pieces of DDR3L ( low voltage) can be the top upgrade choice for the current system.

No storage m.2 slot so SATA2 interface 2.5 7mm on an HDD Caddy would be possible.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Re:Laptop G710 Hardware Upgrade

Thanks for your support, but how about my CD driver, I want to keep my HDD caddy unchanged, and remove the CD driver space for upgrade a new SSD, is it possible with SATA2 for that? Thanks.

Re:Laptop G710 Hardware Upgrade

Hi FakComPaty,

Greetings.

It would work as expected since they are backward compatible.

Only challenge is the performance and for the same reason most folks replace the HDD with the SATA 2.5 SSD instead then place the original HDD in the optical drive caddy for better performance and speed.
