Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

Dears,

I've been going crazy for 1 week, trying and trying everything to make a clean installation of Windows 8.1 64bit on an SSD I bought for my Flex 2 15.

I've read thousands of pages of forums, changed 3 different SSDs, but nothing was successfull!

(Crucial MX100, Crucial BX100, ADATA SP920SS)

every time, during the W8.1 Setup Wizard, it displays "No hard drive found" when I have to choose in which drive to install the OS.

My Lenovo Flex 2 15 came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed on a WD hard disk.

Please help me.

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

solved this issue just......changing the SSD :smileymad:

I bought a Samsung 840 EVO and it works correctly.

Tried Crucial M550 (listed as compatible on Crucial website), Crucial MX1100, ADATA, but nothing

with Samsung no issues.

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

I have the same issue with the migraton to ssd (crucial bx100) on my flex 2-14.

After cloning and installing the ssd, I get the error INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE. AHCI mode is (was) activated.

Any idea?

Hi tylerdurden83, thanks for coming back and posting your findings!

Other community members have also found the Crucial MX100 not compatible with the Flex 2 14.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

I can confirm that the crucial mx100 dose not work on the flex 3 1570.  I have updated the bios, the firmware and all drivers on laptop and nothing will get this drive to work.  The amazing thing is this is the third laptop in six years that I have replaced a stock drive with an SSD and this is the first time I have had a problem.

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

I have the same problem. Just bought a Crucial BX100 SSD. Windows 8.1 / 10 can't find a hard disk during install (on my Flex 2-14). Windows 7 installs with no problem.

Vertex 3 is working in Flex 2-14. BX100 is working in another PC.

Is Lenovo planning on fixing this in their next firmware release?

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

Ugh, just found this thread after several days of pulling my hair out. I also have tried literally everything to get windows 8.1 or windows 10 to install. Windows 7 installs fine. This is with a 500gb BX100 and a Lenovo Edge 15 (80H1X002US). The drive is simply not deteted at all, no matter what bios settings are used. Something else I've noticed is that when I quit out of the windows installer the HD does NOT show in the bios, yet when I cold boot, there it is again! Hmmm!

I am now convinced this is a combatability issue. I guess my question would be: Is this an issue with Crucial or with Lenovo?

Hi I want to replace the current slow disk with a SSD so are we saying just go for one of the Samsung 840 Evo disks : 128 GB , 240 GB etc and things should work.

Re: "no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

I can confirm that the Crucial MX-200 1 TB SSD cannot be found by the Flex 3-1580. I tried cloning the existing Windows 10 OS using Macrium, and also tried a clean install. In the first case the computer would not boot. In the second case, booting the Win 10 installer from a bootable USB stick, the installer said that no drive was found. Prior to trying these things I installed the latest Lenovo BIOS available as of 11/8/2015. The SSD firmware was version MU02.

I contacted Crucial. They suggested that during installation of a clean Windows 10 from USB, I might need to install Lenovo-sepcific SATA storage driver. I haven't tried that yet, however, there's no obvious driver on the Lenovo site labeled as a SATA driver.
