Re: Can't update BIOS due to "battery not detected" error on Lenovo Flex 5

I'm really quite frustrated with this, especially since I've been trying for at least a month now to get this thing updated.

Simply put, I go through the motions of downloading the BIOS update for my Flex 5, everything looks good, the PC reboots, and then WHAM! Error time---I get the message the update failed because no battery has been detected. Funny thing: My battery is fully operational and at 99-100% every time I try to run the update!

Anyone have any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? Or do I just need to buy a new PC---an ASUS or Acer or something else?

Hi Conriocht.

Welcome to the Community Forums!

I really want to help here.

Can you send me a screen shot of the error that show that the battery is not being detected and BIOS version?

Re: Can't update BIOS due to "battery not detected" error on Lenovo Flex 5

I'm not trying to be facetious but how am I going to take a screenshot in the middle of a BIOS update, especially when everything is flashing by so fast? Is there a  trick to it?

I attempted the BIOS update again and tried getting a screenshot but to no avail. Sorry.

Hi Conriocht.

You may want to try TS on the battery itself by resetting battery detection.

Unplug AC adapter and Shutdown the system.

Remove battery, Connect AC Adapter and Start windows. Uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery from device manager under the battery tab. Shutdown, Remove AC Adapter, Install battery, Reattach AC Adapter. Now, Power up and check.

Keep us posted.

You're suggesting I dismantle my laptop, remove my battery, et cetera? That's a long way to go just to update the BIOS. Yikes.
