Intel RAID Not Working on Lenovo Ideapad 320-17IKB

Hello there,

I am trying to setup Intel RAID for my Lenovo Ideapad 320-17IKB. I have set the mode from AHCI to RAID, but after a reboot it changes back to AHCI when I then enter the BIOS again. I also tried booting into the OS, but the next time going to the BIOS also says that it is at AHCI again. I also tried Ctrl+I while the laptop was booting, but that also did nothing.

I think that it should be supported, as otherwise the option to use a RAID controller won't be there in the settings of the BIOS/UEFI.

I hope someone can help me fix this problem and get to come in the RAID setup and make sure that the controller is set to RAID. I just want to try RAID and see whether it might give me some good benefits.

Welcome to the Community, Minionguyjpro!

Glad to assist!

Sorry about that, what BIOS version is it per System Information page? What OS?

Please retry to save it using F10 in BIOS page.

Ctrl I does not have a function.

Hello, the version is 4WCN47WW and I already saved the BIOS after selecting the RAID option. It has Windows 11.

Minionguyjpro,

If it won't save it, it is either the CMOS battery that needs a new one or BIOS update/version issue mostly. Perhaps, CMOS battery is the cause.

Well hello again,

The option for RAID option doesn't save, but others do! Changing settings like Secure Boot, Legacy or UEFI option, the boot order and all others things do save. I also tested this.

Minionguyjpro,

So the recent BIOS update or version caused it then.

BIOS backflash is the step to undo that. Backup your data first, I suggest before doing so.

Re:Intel RAID Not Working on Lenovo Ideapad 320-17IKB

Hello,

Well, the problem is that my device got only one BIOS update, which I am on right now. One more thing to say is that I also have Ubuntu 23.04 and dual-boot that with Windows 11, but if I remember I also tried this while I only had Windows 11 and it did also not work then.

Might it also be because I have only 1 SSD connected? I am not sure whether RAID requires multiple to work, or that it also supports external HDDs which I do have and could connect.

Minionguyjpro,

Raid 1 and 0 need 2 drives, indeed.

Have you seen this?

Windows 11 and it did also not work then.
 - with the older BIOS?

Applicable OS  Windows 10 (64-bit)

BIOS is for Windows 10 per page. Please be careful on BIOS downgrade to avoid boot issues.

Thanks!

Hello,

I will flash the BIOS update soon. But how did you find it? I looked on the website but were not able to find the earlier update somewhere.
