Lenovo Y-50-70 Freeze

Hi, All

I have a very serious and constant freezing problem with my Y50-70.

I have acquired it in December 2015. From the first month it started to freeze every now and then, only to recover 30 sec later. Back then I had a work computer so I was using my Lenovo notebook very little, like once a week and I did not take any action.

In the last months I have constantly experienced very frequent freezing episodes. Sometimes it lasts for 30 secs, other times even more, and sometimes it does not even recover and I need to hard stop it using the power button.  I cannot work even for 10 minutes in a row. I do not play games or run numerical simulations or programming; it is freezing during very simple tasks like browsing the internet or writing a word document. I have installed a temperature monitoring software which showed me that every time the computer froze, the temperature of the cores was over 70 Celsius deg.

Please help me! I am looking forward for your support!

Re: Lenovo Y-50-70 Freeze

Hi there, Cristian         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Run a few tests from this link -

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/lenovodiagnosticsolutions/tools

You should try Storage test, memory test, motherboard test, CPU test. Open Command prompt and try sfc /scannow to check if your windows files are corrupted.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Y-50-70 Freeze

Hi, thank you very much for your prompt response

I am coming back with the results:

 - For sfc /scannow: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation;

I have run all the tests available in the hardware section of the Lenovo Solution Centre, in a comprehensive way, and it seems the test have been passed with flying colours... Final result code: W12HQGPD1-B29F94.

I look for further instructions. Thank you for your support!

P.S. Yesterday evening a realized I was using my notebook in the power saving mode. I switched to performance mode. Do you think this could be the reason for freezing?
