Re: Z470 Upgrade Question

Hi Ekong,

There are 10 (ten) different motherboards (MB) for the IdeaPad Z470 series depending on which CPU/GPU is used,

your upgrade is not easy to do, please see  Hardware Maintenance Manual  page 89 ff for more details...

Re: Z470 Upgrade Question

Ok i downloaded the file.

So what should i do now? should i post my laptop specs ? if yes how? if no, what will i do to know if its safe to upgrade my laptop processor. or should i just stick on my i3?

EDIT:

btw is it possible to upgrade it up to i7? coz i saw awhile ago about this brand that it can only support i5.

Re: Z470 Upgrade Question

Ekong... according to the information in Hardware Maintenance Manual many parts, probably including the system board MB,

would need to be changed to accommodate a i7 quad-core CPU in place of the original i3 dual-core.

I suggest you to stick with i3 CPU and if you need more power to do the work, I would buy me a more powerful laptop.

Re: Z470 Upgrade Question

You're welcome... Ekong

BTW... guess you'd hardly notice any real performance increase by going from i3 to i5 CPU.
