Re: Yoga C930 turns off when plugged in, and without battery (dead)

I have my C930 without battery (dead) and i work plugged in, but when the fan turns on the C930 turns off. I think the cable-charger or USB-C is not enought to keep on C930 when the fan is turn on.

Is there any way that the device without a battery (dead) can stay on, without turning off when the fan is turned on?

Is another more powerful charger needed?

Would a USB 3.1 charger be more powerful than the one the C930 brings by default (USB-C)?

Hi ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

We would like to learn more about the issue. Had you physically removed the battery and turn on the laptop with the charger connected?

As per Product System Reference, the Yoga C930 requires 65W USB Type-C AC adapter.

Are you using the Lenovo Supplied adapter? Have you tried using a different adapter?

Let us know.

Re: Yoga C930 turns off when plugged in, and without battery (dead)

My battery died with only 113 cicles, it was inside my C930 without charge (0%). The charger is the original Lenovo 65W USB Type-C, and with these conditions I can turn on the C930, but when the fan needs to turn on, the machine turns off, anb I think the USB Tyepe-C adapter is not enought to keep the machine on when the fan is active and the battery is 0%.

Any solution?

Thanks for getting back to us.

To isolate the problem, then you may use a different charger and see if it does the same. If not, then there's an issue with charger but if it does the same, then there's an internal hardware that's needed to be checked physically and we suggest contacting our local support for repair options.

Regards!

I have exactly the same problem as @ Bernitec wrote:

I can not take the unit in due to the current circumstances.  What are the possible hardware or software components causing the problem?  I will repair myself, but could use some help to get started.

I also experience same thing.

 - Battery always shows 0%

 - Does not start if not plugged

 - Pressing 1 minute on power while plugged did not help

 - OS Battery driver re-install did not help

 - Saw there was Battery Firmware Update, could not install I guess because it requires 30% at least (mine is 0%, I remember closing some popup claiming minimum 30%)

What's next Lenovo?

Re:Yoga C930 turns off when plugged in, and without battery (dead)

Was there any resolution to this issue? I have the SAME problem - the Lenovo C930 battery won't charge. With the computer plugged in, the light next to the USB-C outlet is flashing constantly. And then even though the compute his plugged in, it was die after 5 minutes.

What a piece of junk this C930 is. I'm tempted to go back to Mac.
