I just had the battery replaced on my Moto Z Play Droid (because of a swelling problem). The new battery has about a 25 percent charge. The technician who replaced it said to let the battery drain to 0 and then charge it to 100 percent -- I am not sure if he said it was to calibrate it or condition it. However, that advice doesn't seem right to me. Motorola, when purchasing a phone new, says to completely charge the battery before using. And I have read the recommendation for calibrating a battery is "to hold the power button down until phone reboots, then charge until full." It seems like draining the battery to 0 would actually be harmful to the battery. What is Motorola/Lenovo's advice for calibrating or conditioning a new battery? Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

I'm no battery expert, but everything I have ever read about phone batteries days to never let them drain to 0%.  New phones don't come with instructions to let the battery completely drain before using, right?  So why should this replacement battery?  I would say just plug it in and let it get to 100% and then let it sit another 30 minutes at 100%.  That will reset the battery stats and you'll start with fresh battery stats.

If the battery has enough energy to start your phone, just plug in the TurboCharger and let it charge all the way up to 100% plus one hour, (that could take up to 6 hours total).  Now power it off and restart.  No need to "long-charge" it again until the meter gets down to 15% or so.

I normally power cycle and fully recharge my phone one night over the weekend; other than that it stays powered on and gets brief recharges when needed.  Four years on the same battery so far, and it still shows more than 30 hours battery remaining after charging!
