Re: Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not taken over in Firefox and IE since upgrade to 5.0

Hi,

I got a really annoying problem since upgrading to AC 5.0: both in IE 6.0 and FF 3.0 the proxy and homepage settings are not taken over when switching the network profiles. A first attempt based on a statement found here

http://www.thinkpad-forum.de/thinkpad-software/thinkvantage-software/13963-access-connection-absturz-beim-anlegen-neuer-profile/?highlight=access+connections+st%C3%BCrzt+ab

seemed to look succesful. (for non Germans: they have solved a crash-problem while creating new profiles in reducing the size of FF's prefs.js file to a value under 45 kB). I had a similar problem, too, and solved it in this way. Also the proxy issue seemed to look better then but but only for some days. Now its the same again, proxy and homepage (did by the way never work with AC 5.0) do still not have any effect on IE and FF.

What's the reason? Has anyone solved or at least experienced this problem?

Thanks a lot for any hints...

Best regards,

Carsten

PS: T41p, Win XP Pro SP2, IE 6.0, FF 3.0.1

Re: Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not taken over in Firefox and IE

Hi,

Faced the same problem as you. Have since reverted back to using ver 4.52 which works well for both IE6.0 and FF3.0.

AC 5.0/5.2: proxy/homepage settings not taken over in Firefox and IE since upgrade

Hi,

thanks for your help. For time reasons I did not try your download but now it is also available via system update. I upgraded to 5.02 but this particular topic "homepage/proxy" does not seem to be solved yet - the settings are still not taken over to IE/FF after switching to another profile. Does anyone has an idea?  Thanks a lot!

Regards,

Carsten

Re: Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not working since 5.00/5.02

BSNF:

Stopped working on 5.0. Upgraded to 5.02 through System Update, continued to not work. Have deleted all profiles, recreated: Still doesn't work. Have uninstalled Access Connections, reinstalled: Still doesn't work. Doublechecked settings in profiles, verified that check box is on in order to get Access Connections to do its thing.

Both IE 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp.080413-211 (that is, the system proxy and home page settings) and Firefox 3.0.1 are affected.

Turned on log file; there were 152 lines of error message, included below, some of which clearly make reference to Firefox. Don't know what's wrong. Some kind of permission thing?

ERROR    SvcGuiHlpr(     kab(Prvlg).4576.0340) [9/14]14:26:40:960  GetPrefsFile got prefs file path [C:\Documents and Settings\kab\Application Data\Mozilla\firefox\Profiles\vbpsq9vz.Work\prefs.js]
ERROR    SvcGuiHlpr(     kab(Prvlg).5356.3964) [9/14]14:27:06:897  GetPrefsFile got prefs file path [C:\Documents and Settings\kab\Application Data\Mozilla\firefox\Profiles\vbpsq9vz.Work\prefs.js]

I've got a much bigger file that contains the log when switching back and forth. There's other error messages in there, too: Missing PID, etc. Any ideas?

Re: Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not taken over...

The problem is not solved. I have the same problem with 5.02. Other settings like the default printer are switched with a change of a profile. Just the browser settings are not changed. I've found the problem today, but I think it came also with the last update.

Re: Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not taken over...

Go back to AC 4.52, which is still on Lenovo's driver matrix site. AC 5.02 does not work on my T60 with Vista 32, SP1.  The "solved"  icon should be removed.

Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings not taken over in Firefox and IE after upgrade to 5.02

As allready written in the other Thread, Access Connections 5.02 did not solve the Problem of missing support of Proxy and Homepage settings in Firefox and IE.

Even if the thread says "solved" it isn't.
