ThinkCentre M90n-1: Power Management Tab missing in Device Manager for Intel I219-V NIC

Hello

I would like to enable Wake on Lan feature for Intel I219-V NIC but I cannot find the power management tab from device settings. I need to set Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer.

I have set CsEnabled to 0 and Power management tab is shown for USB devices.

reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v CsEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f

I updated Intel's lastes 25.6 drivers but still no Power management tab.

Hello u3628!

Welcome to community forums

Have you tried checking in the BIOS if there is an option for you to eb=nable that function in BIOS? For you to boot to BIOS, follow the steps here: https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht500222-recommended-ways-to-enter-bios-boot-menu-thinkpad-thinkcentre-thinkstation

And also, have you tried going to the Device Manager -->Network Adapters --> right-click the adapter in use and click Properties -->Advanced tab --> Select Wake on Magic Packet from the Property list --> Click Power Management tab.
Select the check box for Allow this device to wake the computer.

Let us know.

Hi u3628,

Have you tried entering the BIOS of the device, then going to the "Power" tab. Select "Automatic Power On" , and make sure Wake on LAN is not set to "disabled". "Automatic" is the default setting, but also try "Primary".

Regards

Re:ThinkCentre M90n-1: Power Management Tab missing in Device Manager for Intel I219-V NIC

Yes BIOS settings are OK and wake on LAN works when Windows is not in sleep on hybrid sleep mode.

The problem seems to be a Windows Modern Standby setting in BIOS. The Windows Modern Standby is enabled by default.

Windows Modern Standby

[Enabled] Enjoying Windows Modern Standby feature, which is the replacement of legacy sleep state(S3).

[Disabled] Support Legacy Sleep Stae(S3)

Note: Switching the power mode is not supported in Windows without a  complete OS re-install.

If you don't use Windows Modern Standby (WMS), power management tab is enabled and you can set Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer. When WMS is enablen you don't see NIC by command  powercfg -devicequery wake_armed.

Now the wake up LAN works if computer is in sleep or hibernate state.

If WMS is enabled, turning monitor off will put computer in standby or hibernate state. By disabling WMS you can turn off your monitor by software without the computer going to sleep.
