Use Wi-Fi 6 on X270?

Hello community!

I have my ThinkPad X270 (20K5S0TS00) with Intel AC8260 with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. Now I want to upgrade my Bluetooth on my PC to version 5.0 for lower energy and faster connection. So I have tried surf the Internet and find the only way to upgrade the inside card is to change this AC8560 to an AX200NGW wireless card. Intel's homepage said that all computers with CPU 6th gen or above can use this card.
But the problem is when I go to the Lenovo page, I don't know can my X270 can natively support this card. Will this AX200NGW can be whitelisted and insert into my PC without modding the BIOS?

Thank you.

Hello hoangphi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

There are different models of X270, I suggest that you share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant.

Or you may check the compatible replacement item from the parts look up website directly.
Hope this helps.

Re:Use Wi-Fi 6 on X270?

Hello,

I do not have a ThinkPad X270 (type 20K5S0TS00) with an Intel AC8260 Wi-Fi adapter myself, but I do have an earlier ThinkPad X250 (Type 20CM002WUS) which had an Intel AC7260 adapter in it.

I just opened it up, and replaced Wi-Fi adapter with an Intel AX210NGW.NV Wi-Fi 6e/Bluetooth 5.2 Wi-Fi adapter card (this is the model without Intel vPro remote management capabilities).

No issues noted running Windows 10.  I did have to connect it via Ethernet to my network in order to download the device drivers for the card from Intel's support website, though.
