Hi, I got a Lenovo IdeaPad S340-15IWL with an i7 and 8gb of RAM, 4 soldered and 4 removable. I want to upgrade my ram and Lenovo, if I'm not mistaken, says it supports 12gb max (so 4gb and 8gb). But I can't find the max supported ram for my model anywhere, I searched on the manuals and everything. However I've read some stories (most on this forum) of people installing another 16gb stick, reaching 20, without any problem, and Crucial scan software says I can upgrade to 16 or 20gb. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup (16gb+4gb) on the same laptop?

Crucial offers Ideapad S340-15IWL Compatible upgrades including 16GB RAM modules. They claim "These upgrades are guaranteed compatible when you order from Crucial.com." I would imagine that if you buy the same part number from an authorized dealer or Amazon that this guarantee would also hold.

No. If you follow the RAM upgrade procedure in the Hardware Maintenance Manual then you're unlikely to run into any problems. But even in the unlikely event that the RAM doesn't work your system will simply fail to boot. If you're still concerned about this then any PC repair facility should be able to install the RAM modules for you.
