After since the last upgrade so many things not working. Have fixed most. When a text message comes through, there is no notification sound. Sound is on. Alarm is on. Media is on.
When I try to select a tone from the list, it does not play. Not sure where to look anymore to turn this on. All turned on in "notificatins," apps and permissions.

Don't ask me how, but I fixed it. I actually forced stopped, removed, re-installed and it seems fine. My goodnes, you guys are fast! Thanks! I'm using the Verizon text app = the messenger+ (red)

Thanks for posting. I'd like to confirm, are you using the "Messages" app? Also, are you receiving notification sound from other apps? First, make sure all apps are up to date in Playstore. After making sure all apps are updated, kindly open Messages > Tap 3 vertical dots (right top part of the screen) > Settings > Notification > Toggle On the button > Sound > Select your preferred notification sound.
Make sure your device is not in Do Not Disturb mode too (Settings > Sound > Do Not Disturb).

They are not going to release the Pie for Moto Z2 Play. So, it's my kind suggestion to all the users that better not to buy Motorola phones in future. It's Waste of your money.
